Recently emotas has launched its new CANopen NetworkDesigner. It allows users to design complete CANopen networks including all devices and their communication connections. A simulation of CANopen devices is included as well.
The latest product in emotas’ portfolio allows users to design and simulate CANopen networks with various devices. During the design process all devices, their signals and timings, and communication settings are defined. The tool automatically creates the PDO and MPDO mapping and linking and generates the code for the object dictionary of all devices. This ensures, in combination with the CANopen stack of the company, a CANopen compliant implementation of the devices.
Using the integrated simulation functionality, devices and process inputs such as digital inputs, temperature sensors, or others can be simulated with values. Within the simulated application the same CANopen stack is used as in later real applications. So it is not necessary to learn an additional scripting language and all algorithms (e.g. PID controllers or waveform generators) can also be reused in the real devices. Due to the support of CANopen gateways according to CiA 302-7 also connections to other CANopen networks can be defined.
Existing devices in a network are supported as well and their process data can be included in the communication of the network. These devices will be configured accordingly by generated DCF files. The tool is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
